Pantone Picks 2024 Color of the Year: “Peach Fuzz”

Leatrice Wiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute recently revealed the 2024 color of the year, “Peach Fuzz”.  The company has chosen a soft peach hue that enriches the body, mind, and soul. She explains:

“A cozy peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz brings belonging, inspires recalibration, and an opportunity for nurturing, conjuring up an air of calm, offering us a space to be, feel, and heal and to flourish from whether spending time with others or taking the time to enjoy a moment by ourselves. Drawing comfort from Peach Fuzz, we can find peace from within, impacting our well-being. An idea as much as a feeling Peach Fuzz awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth.”

The Pantone Institute is most famous for its accurate color-matching program which was developed in the 1960s. The special program collects and arranges different hues with a specific chip system. The company is also involved in research and predicting color trends.

What does the Peach Fuzz color represent?

Although the Peace Fuzz connotes modernity, it also emphasizes the enrichment of the body, mind, and soul. The soft, sensitive but airy hue had an understated beauty, elegance, and sophistication. It’s projected to bring an air of elegance to the digital industry. This particular peach has a romantic and almost poetic tone with a touch of vintage, bringing a sense of nostalgia to its contemporary use.

The unveiling was done to mark the 25th anniversary of Pantone’s Color of the Year program. The program was launched in 1999 with Cerulean Blue as the color of the year. Since its inception, the program has served to interpret the emotions and feelings of its consumers and culture through the use of color.

Color experts come together annually to evaluate trends in the fashion, art, entertainment, design, and travel industries to find out the most influential colors of the time. They also employ the theories of color psychology and research to predict color trends. When they conclude their research, they streamline their choices to a specific color that will set the tone for the coming year.

Vice president of Pantone, Laurie Pressman had this to say:

“With this year’s Pantone Color of the Year 2024, we see an increased focus on community and people across the world reframing how they want to live and evaluating what is important – that is the comfort of being close to those we love. The color is one whose warm and welcoming embrace conveys a message of compassion and whose cozy sensibility brings people together and enriches the soul.”

And then continued:

“In the spirit of PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we reflect on the last 25 years of the Pantone Color of the Year program grateful to provide an avenue where designers and color enthusiasts all over the world can engage in a conversation about color, be inspired by color and showcase their creativity within their communities. We look forward to continuing this for many more years to come.”
